Texas is well positioned to feed its booming economy. Nearly 40 public universities, including 6 state university centers and 50 community college districts, deliver an ongoing pipeline of well-trained workers hungry for big opportunities. In the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex, Southern Methodist University was recently ranked among the best research institutions in the world by U.S. News & World Report.

Founded in 1869 (just 13 years after our picturesque county courthouse opened its doors), Weatherford College offers technical programs for business at the oldest continuously operating college west of the Mississippi River. The college works with local companies to provide vocational degrees and training to students from all over Texas, more than other 30 states, and two dozen foreign countries. The college benefits from the Texas Skills Development Fund, the state's premier job-training program. It provides local, customized training designed to increase skill levels and wages in the Weatherford workforce.
